In a strategic move to enhance business continuity and disaster recovery preparedness, as mandated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the BSE and the NSE, are organising a special live trading session on 18th May. Here’s all the relevant information and its impact on trading operations.
The Purpose of the Live Trading Session
Business continuity for Market Infrastructure Intermediaries (MIIs) such as stock exchanges, clearing corporations, and depositories is now facilitated through the Software as a Service (SaaS) model. They had already conducted mock trading sessions last year to familiarise themselves with the new SaaS model.
During the upcoming special live trading session, MIIs will orchestrate an intra-day switch-over to their respective Disaster Recovery sites while the SaaS instance will be invoked simultaneously, to evaluate the ability and efficiency of this synchronised event. Having engaged in detailed discussions with SEBI and their technical advisory committee, MIIs will be collectively assessing their preparedness to handle unforeseen events. This collaborative effort aims to ensure a swift restoration of operations from the DR site within the stipulated recovery time.
