Muhurat Trading 2022 Diwali (deepawali) is India's biggest festival. It is associated with goddess Lakshmi and the beginning of new financial year. It is believed that Diwali is the most auspicious period. A puja (ritual) is performed on books of accounts books and safes on Dhanteras as well as on Diwali to signify the beginning of a new year. It is believed that on the night of Lakshmi Puja, the Goddess comes to reside at the place of the puja. Borrowing from the same tradition, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) started Muhurat trading in 1957 whereas the National Stock Exchange (NSE) commenced Muhurat trading in 1992. As Muhurat trading completes 65 years in 2022, let us explore what is Muhurat trading. As Diwali also marks the beginning of the New Year, it is believed that shares purchased on this day brings in wealth and prosperity throughout the year. An auspicious beginning is thus made on the first day of the year.

What is muhurat trading?

The Hindi word “Muhurat” means an auspicious time where the planets are aligned favourably increasing chances of good results.Traders believe that by trading on this auspicious day, they will earn wealth and prosperity throughout the year. On the occasion of this auspicious day, indian stock market is open for an hour in the evening and trading is done in this one hour and trading sessions are held by NSE and BSE. Like every year, Muhurat trading will take place this year too. It is scheduled on 24th Oct 2022.
