The Indian markets sailed through choppy waters this week, with volatility hitting the roof right from the start. The India VIX spiked over 42% on Monday, setting the stage volatile days. Nifty 50 failed to make a new high this week as the global uncertainties kept investors on edge.
The market mood was dominated by a “sell on rise” approach, with metals, auto, and realty, putting significant pressure on the indices. As a result, all major indices ended the week in the red. However, just when it seemed like all hope was lost, the markets managed to catch a late-week bounce, offering a glimmer of recovery. It was a week full of twists and turns, keeping everyone on their toes.
The Nifty 50 ended the week 1.42% lower at 24,367. Major sectoral indices ended the week on a negative note. Nifty Pharma and Nifty FMCG surged the most with gains of 1.40%, and 0.67% respectively.
